Batting

High quality batting is provided at a very competitive price, so there is no need to mail it with your quilt top.  I carry Hobbs brand batting and sell it at a better price than local chain fabric stores.   I have learned that not all batting is created equal, so to keep my machine maintenance costs down, as some lower quality brands will shed, tear easily and leave large lint balls in my machine, I prefer that you use my batting. However, if you’ve already purchased batting please call and let me know. If you still have questions about batting, let’s talk. Local customers are welcome to come by my studio and together we can audition the different types of batting.

100% COTTON, NATURAL & WHITE……………………………….$12.99 per yard
1/8″ loft, washable with about 3-5% shrinkage. This batting will give your quilt a vintage, crinkly look after washing. For more loft this batting can be doubled.

80/20 COTTON/POLY BLEND, NATURAL & BLACK…………………………..$11.99 per yard
1/4″ loft, washable, minimal shrinkage. For a thin, lightweight quilt with minimal crinkle. The 20% poly keeps it from shrinking like cotton. Great for quilts that get a lot of washing and tabletoppers.

WOOL…………………………………………………………………………..$16.00 per yard
1/4″ loft, washable, 3-5% shrinkage. Wool is super lightweight and breathes like cotton. It’s warm in the winter and cool in the summer and gives your quilt a soft, lofty and drapey finish. I use wool in my personal quilts.

POLYESTER………………………………………………………………………$5.99 per yard
1/4″ thick, washable. If you like some loft choose Polyester or double the batting. However, double batting may limit the density of the quilting design. Polyester is the best choice if your backing is minky or flannel as it’s so lightweight. I holds up if your quilt will have multiple washings, like a child or baby quilt.
